Rafael Câmara é um roteirista e diretor nascido em São Paulo e formado em Comunicação Social pela PUC-SP.
• Começou a carreira como montador e entrevistador de programas televisivos variados, incluindo o notório ”Diálogos Impertinentes”, parceria da Folha de S. Paulo com a TV Cultura.
• Estreou como roteirista com os documentários “Bethy Largadère”, “Alma Carioca” e “SPFW 15 anos”, todos para o canal GNT.
• Dirigiu e escreveu a websérie “Projeto Juan”, que em oito episódios ultrapassou os 13 milhões de views.
• Foi finalista do concurso NETLABTV de séries televisivas com seu roteiro "Curta Exposição".
• Participou com a videoarte “Caça Mulata” da exposição Bailado do Deus Morto - uma homenagem ao diretor de teatro modernista Flávio de Carvalho.
• Seu primeiro filme, "Lembranças do Fim dos Tempos”, foi eleito o melhor curta-metragem no International Film Award Berlin, além de seleção oficial no Festival de Gramado, World Arts Film Fest, Cinefest Gato Preto e British Documentary Film Festival. O filme fez parte de uma mostra permanente no HR Giger Museum (Suíça) em 2018-2020. Atualmente, faz parte da programação do Canal Brasil.
• Dirigiu, escreveu e produziu o longa-metragem documental “Vai pra Cuba”, uma performance musical e de bastidores sobre o contato da banda com cubanos anônimos e famosos. Ainda inédito.
• Trabalhou no roteiro do filme "Inertia City", idealizado pelo Google em conjunto com o Festival de Tribeca para celebrar as metas climáticas globais da ONU.
• Também escreveu e supervisionou o roteiro do minidoc "Hypertime" para o Brazil Climate Summit 2022.
• Com a ficção "A Ponte”, venceu o Festival de Curtas TNT, recebeu menção honrosa no Cleveland International Film Festival (premiação que qualifica ao Oscar) e percorreu festivais incluindo Jagran (Índia), Cine Ceará (Brasil) e Film Pittsburgh (EUA).
• Foi Creative Executive e na South (produtora da atriz Alice Braga em parceria com a FLAGCX). Atualmente, participa de projetos da casa como autor e roteirista.
• Escreveu, junto de Fabio Rodrigo, o argumento do longa-metragem ficcional sobre a vida do rapper Sabotage.
• É roteirista de um podcast narrativo, inédito, para a Audible (Amazon) sobre o genocídio indígena no Brasil.
• Escreveu o longa-metragem de ficção sobre o locutor de rodeios Asa Branca. O filme é produzido pela Sentimental Filme com a co-produção do Ventre Studio e distribuição da Paris Filmes.
• O roteiro do longa-metragem Sound Búfalo foi selecionados do Lab Franco-Brasileiro de Roteiros do Festival Varilux de Cinema Francês 2023 e no lab ARGUMENTA. O filme também tem mentoria do Projeto Paradiso. Será o primeiro longa-metragem dirigido por Rafael.
• Desde 2020 é selecionado todos os anos pelos principais concursos de roteiro em língua portuguesa: Duas vezes no Frapa (o maior da América Latina) nas categorias: Piloto de Série (2020) e Argumento de Longa-Metragem (2023). E dois anos consecutivos no Prêmio Guiões (2021, 2022) com pilotos de séries distintas.
Rafael Câmara is a screenwriter and film director born in São Paulo, holding a degree in Social Communication and Journalism.
• He began his career as an editor for various television shows, including the renowned "Diálogos Impertinentes," a partnership between Folha de S. Paulo and TV Cultura.
• He made his debut as a screenwriter with the documentaries "Bethy Largadère," "Alma Carioca," and "SPFW 15 anos," all for the GNT channel.
• Directed and wrote the web series "Juan Project," which surpassed 13M views across its eight episodes.
• Was a finalist in the NETLABTV television series competition with his script "Short Exposure."
• Participated with the video art "Caça Mulata" in the exhibition "Bailado do Deus Morto" - a tribute to Flávio de Carvalho, one of the greatest Brazilian theater directors.
• His first film, "Memories From The End of Times" was awarded the Best Short Film at the International Film Award Berlin, as well as an official selection at the Gramado Film Festival, World Arts Film Fest, Cinefest Gato Preto, and British Documentary Film Festival. The film was part of a permanent exhibition at the HR Giger Museum (Switzerland) from 2018-2020 and is currently part of the Canal Brasil programming.
• He directed, wrote, and produced the documentary feature "Go to Cuba!" a musical and backstage performance about the band's interaction with anonymous and famous Cubans.
• He worked on the script for the short film "Inertia City," a project sponsored by Google in collaboration with the Tribeca Film Festival to celebrate the UN's global climate goals.
• He wrote and supervised the script for the minidoc "Hypertime" for the Brazil Climate Summit 2022.
• With the fiction "The Bridge" he won the TNT Short Film Festival, received an honorable mention at the Cleveland International Film Festival (Oscars-qualifying), and was featured in many festivals, including Jagran (India), Cine Ceará (Brazil), and Film Pittsburgh (USA).
• Worked as a Creative Executive at South (actress Alice Braga's production company in partnership with FLAGCX). Currently, he is involved in projects there as a screenwriter and author.
• Along with Fabio Rodrigo, developed the storyline for a feature film about the life of the Brazilian rapper Sabotage.
• Writer of an unreleased narrative podcast for Audible (Amazon) about the indigenous genocide in Brazil.
• He wrote the feature-length fiction film about the rodeo announcer Asa Branca. The film is produced by Sentimental Filme in co-production with Ventre Studio and distributed by Paris Filmes.
• The script for the feature film Sound Buffalo was selected by Varilux French Film Festival and the 6th edition of ARGUMENTA. The film is also being mentored by Projeto Paradiso. It will be Rafael's first feature-length film as a director.
• Since 2020, he has been selected every year by the main Portuguese-language screenplay competitions: twice at Frapa (the largest in Latin America) in the categories of Series Pilot (2020) and Feature-Length Screenplay (2023). He was also selected for two consecutive years at the Guiões Awards (2021, 2022).
